EMT Call Taker/Dispatcher (in Training)

Assist Ambulance, a New York City EMS agency offering a full range of emergency medical and transportation services, is seeking EMTs to join their Communications Department as a Call Taker/Dispatcher in Training. This position is located at 4420 Farragut Road, Brooklyn, NY 11203. The role involves high-volume call-taking for both non-emergency medical transports and emergency calls. The successful candidate will interact with a diverse range of medical facilities and partners, including skilled rehab facilities, hospitals, long-term care centers, and urgent care centers. This includes managing community paramedicine calls and interfacility STAT transfers. Typical duties for an EMT call taker/dispatcher also include receiving and prioritizing incoming calls, dispatching appropriate emergency medical units, and maintaining communication with field crews and medical facilities. Additionally, the Call Taker/Dispatcher will assist with daily operations by coordinating crew members, buses, supplies, and equipment, as well as troubleshooting operational issues.
